Sam's sister, yes!  Sister as his biggest advocate, yes but not in a conventional manner.  As two teenage siblings, she is often rude, quick to make judgements, mean on occassion, and completes tasks for Sam through frustration; however, she tends to exit each instance with a quick kind word, smile, or some sort of physical contact such as, messing up his hair.
